Our wines

Overlooking the commune of Le Luc and adjoining Peyrassol estate, La Bernarde estate was acquired by Vignobles Austruy in 2015.

The vines climb to an elevation of between 380 and 450 meters on slopes which afford a magnificent south-southwest exposure.

They benefit from exceptional conditions: plenty of sun and marked temperature variations between day and night combine to give a slow and harmonious ripening of the grapes helping ensure a fine balance between acidity and phenolic maturity.

On the higher ground, clay-limestone soils are predominant, while the lower areas mainly consist of schists which contribute to the minerality of the blends.

La Bernarde Rouge 2018

ORGANIC WINE

Blend

50 % syrah, 50 % cabernet-sauvignon

Tasting

Rich garnet in colour with a glint of deep purple, with prevailing notes of cabernet, it immediately seduces with the depth and clarity of its aromas. Red and black fruits, followed by bay leaf and liquorice, combine to create an expressive and well-harmonised bouquet. On the palate, its youthfulness is on full display: firm, ripe tannins, a well-rounded feel and a hint of fresh red fruits, spices and cocoa. From the attack through to the finish it shows great volume and length.

It makes a fine accompaniment to breast of duck or a rack of lamb cooked with thyme.
